4 Things I Hate About Blogging

As much as I love blogging, there are certain aspects of it I’m not a fan of. Maybe it’s just me, but the longer I’ve blogged, the more I notice these bad habits I’m starting to do…

There can be a lot of pressure

Don’t get me wrong, the blogging community or the “blogosphere” can be a great space to find supportive, inspiring people but sometimes the pressure to ‘live a perfect life’ can get to me. I know by now those instagram feeds I see is anything but unrealistic but it still makes me feel I need to buy that Chanel purse, have a pinterest worthy house and the Olympus Pen as well as go on vacations every other week in order to keep up and be relevant.

It takes up so much time

I don’t know if it’s just me, but ever since I started blogging 4 years ago, I kid you not I’ve most likely spent half a year (that’s 182.5 days) on my blog on the span of that 4 years. I go on my blogs social media to update and see what’s up when I wake up, before I sleep, on lunch break, I brainstorm while commuting to school, I write posts every single night (or at least try to), take photos on the weekend and basically do anything blog related any chance I get but that’s just taking me closer to being a #GirlBoss. Now I’m realizing blogging has made me so much more better at juggling time,is it really a bad thing?

I end up spending too much on photo props

Not gonna lie, I’ve spent more than I’d like to on photography props. You have to do it for the ‘gram’ is my excuse! Over the years I’ve collected way too many coloured cardstock paper for those flatlays, fake flowers, glitter… the list goes on and on. but now that I’m a bit older and have a bit more control (ha, who am I kidding) I know how to save up and what stores to go to for best discounts.

My blog is always on my mind

This is probably the worst one for me on this list and I’m sure at least half of you will agree with me. As a blogger my mind is constantly thinking of good content to write about and because of this, everywhere I go blogging is always on my mind. Taking stops everywhere to take photos and sometimes putting blogging before school and my social life… not good!

I love blogging, but there always will be cons to something and here are some of them for me! What are some things you don’t like about blogging?

All the love

Well, I agree with you, 100% 🙂 It’s time consuming, true, but on the other hand we get to know so nice people! Many times I think whether I should go on with my blog, but till now I am standing 🙂 Hope you have a nice weekend!

Honestly, I’ve been feeling the same in terms of blogging. Thank you for writing this!

Glad I’m not the only one 🙂

Especially the last part is the most ennoying thing. I am so addicted that I can never forget about blogging. But on the other hand I love blogging.

I completely agree with all of these points, I feel like at times working on my blog consumes me but at the same time I get to inspire and motivate so many people. And I think at the end of the day that’s what makes it worth it.

Your last point is true of me. When something happens to me or near me, my first thought is “how can I put that into a post”? J.

I agree with everything you’ve said here! I hate the pressure even though most of the time it’s pressure I’ve put on myself.

You forgot one thing: the blogosphere neither reads nor appreciates posts of substance or entries that show signs of intelligence. Sure, there may be people who do – but they are needles in a haystack.

I couldn’t agree more, blogging is very time consuming! I also spent way to much money on it, buying things to review and just to stay updated on stuff.

I totally agree, especially about the fact that there can be a lot of pressure due to being surrounded by other (more) successful bloggers! I also can’t ever stop thinking about my blog and I guess it just becomes a part of you. Sometimes we need to take a step back and relax xx Nikita

I totally agree with this! Blogging is so time consuming, it’s something you really have to do daily, but I don’t really think it’s a bad thing, as I enjoy doing it! Great post xx

I totally agree on the time consumption of blogging… and sometimes, just knowing how long a post can take makes me not want to blog either. I’m considering purchasing some props from the dollar store, esp some colorful poster paper and little accessories as well.

I definitely agree! There are days where I all I want to do is blog, and then there are days where I don’t even want to look at it. Ugh!

Blogging does take up a lot of time but I really enjoy that. I love being busy and I’m earning money from something I love.

Absolutely, the pros outweigh the cons any day x

I can relate with you on a lot of these reasons – it takes up a lot of time but at the end of the day, I find it worthwhile because I feel like blogging is a way of self-reflection and you can find ways to criticize/improve yourself in the meantime. Blogging is on my mind for most of the day so I bought a notebook to jot all of my ideas throughout the day XD.

These are all so true! Blogging use to be so much for simpler than it was today. Every time I go shopping I always question things now before buying it to make sure it’s Instagram worthy…sad but so true I know! I do feel though if we only had our blogs without the social media accounts involved it would be a lot easier on time.
